The third episode of Game of Thrones entitled Lord Snow had some very interesting developments.  This was a Sunday night to remember.  It started with another wonderful episode of Game of Thrones and was topped off by the news of the death of Osama Bin Laden.  Who could ask for more?

Ned Stark and his two daughters Sansa and Arya arrive in King’s Landing to find things aren’t as they imagined.  Ned begins to realize just how badly the king needs his help.  Meanwhile Queen Cersei councils the young prince Joffery of the dangers the Starks represent to their plans.  Arya receives some much needed encouragement from her father and is given a teacher in the art of swordsmanship.

Jon Snow arrives at Castle Black and learns the brotherhood he so yearned to join is not as glorious as he was led to believe.  He learns a valuable lesson from an uneasy ally as his uncle Benjen prepares to range north of the wall.  Back in King’s Landing, Lady Stark learns some troubling news about the attempted murder of her son.  Bran is awake, but appears to have no memory of what happened to him.  News of his recovery and extent of injuries reaches the Stark family.

Daenerys is learning what it is to be a true queen as she realizes just how little control her brother Viserys now has over her.  She surprises her new husband Drogo with happy news and seems to be growing content in her new role among the Dothraki.

This latest episode was by no means better than episode 2 but I was ultimately pleased with it because of the continuation of the story.  Things continue to move along at a pretty steady pace and the audience is learning more about this world.  Once again visuals and special effects were top notch and I particularly liked the scenes at Castle Black and the area around the wall.

Ned Stark and Jaime Lannister continue their tap dance of pleasantries.  You can feel the tension between the two and you know that a showdown in inevitable.  There is also the same tension between Jaime and King Robert, but it isn’t difficult to tell who would come out on the winning end of that.  I cannot wait until next week.
