Zack Snyder is mixing things up a bit with the casting of Laurence Fishburne as the hot headed editor-in-chief of the Daily Planet, Perry White in the upcoming Superman: Man of Steel.  Fishburne is best known for his role in The Matrix trilogy but he has also been seen recently on the hit CBS drama CSI.

He follows a great line of actors who have played the part of Perry White in movies and television including Jackie Cooper, Lane Smith and Frank Langella.  Fishburne is not the only African-American actor recently cast as a character who has usually been portrayed as a Caucasian.  Samuel L. Jackson was cast as Nick Fury in several Marvel superhero movies.

It will be interesting to see how he handles the role of the volatile Perry White who is known for his outbursts of anger and shouting fits.  Fishburne is usually a quite, soft spoken actor who is rarely called upon to lose his composure.  The film also stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Julia Ormond, Russell Crowe, Christopher Meloni and Harry Lennix.  Look for Superman: Man of Steel to premiere in June of 2013.
