From SDCC, six minutes of various clips from Green Lantern: The Animated Series.  Due to premiere sometime next year, this new series is catching a little flak from fans who aren’t crazy about the CG animation.  However some fans are treating it as payback for the dismal showing at the box office of the live action Green Lantern movie.  Only time will tell, but in the meantime check out the clips and see for yourself.

In WOTN’s final piece of SDCC coverage for this year, I’m bringing you some of the cosplay from all four days in San Diego this year.  Seeing the cosplay is one of my favorite parts of any con and the ones who show up at SDCC always bring their A-game.  Enjoy!

During the Immortals panel Saturday, Henry Cavill was asked about preparations for his role as Superman.  The British actor was gracious but did not spill any details other than to quell the rumors the film has had problems with the script.

“There’s really nothing I can say apart from the fact that it’s one of the best scripts I’ve ever read. I’m excited and humbled about it, and I can’t wait to get started,” he said.

The rumored script problems come from news that two writers were brought in last week to rewrite the Man of Steel script.  That doesn’t necessarily indicate problems with the script, but possibly could point to it needing tweaking.  There’s talk that the film’s third act has problems and with the production date looming closer and closer, execs at Warner Bros. might be getting nervous.

Another LARP comedy was unveiled at Comic Con this year.  With a pretty impressive cast (comedy wise) and a totally kick ass name.  Ryan Kwanten (True Blood), Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones), Summer Glau (Firefly) and Steve Zahn star in Knights of Badassdom.  Check out the trailer below.

DC showed off character sketches from it’s new lineup during their panel today at SDCC.  Overall I am liking the new character designs with only a few exceptions.  I am relieved they didn’t screw around with Batman or Green Lantern that much.  I love Wonder Woman’s new look but still on the fence about Superman.  Although the sketches don’t reveal the entire lineup of new designs, it is still a pretty vast sample.  Check out some of the sketches below or click here for the entire gallery.

Here is the entire set of The Avengers concept art.  Each one listed individually and the completed set.  Enjoy!

As predicted, not only is the ensemble complete, we’re getting our first look at Hulk from The Avengers.  After seeing the teaser trailer at the end of Captain America last night, I am ever so stoked to see it next summer.  Check out the new concept image of Hulk below.

Angry fans who are against DC’s reboot of their comic line vowed to protest at this year’s San Diego Comic Con.  A Facebook campaign was launched a few weeks ago and grew in popularity as SDCC approached.

Nearly 500 fans RSVP’d to the Facebook event but in the end only a dozen or so actually showed up to protest.  The cosplaying fans, dressed mostly as The Joker and Harley Quinn held up signs to show their displeasure with DC’s reboot plans.

It seems that upset fans either lost interest in the protest or have been won over by the media blitz DC has been running to promote the new line.  DC writers, artists and editors have been in front of anyone with a mic or camera touting the virtues of this reboot.  Many fans, myself included are somewhat optimistic but that has been guarded as not everyone is happy with every aspect of the change.

With the planned protest falling flat during Comic Con it is unlikely at this point (as if there were a chance) that DC will heed the disgruntled fans.  For those of us willing to give DC the benefit of the doubt, we’ll just have to wait until next month when the new line starts off with Justice League #1.
